Duplicate Record Remover Help

Export Changes Made

These options will export the changes that need to be made to your source data as a list of steps (updates and deletes) that need to be executed against the data.  This option is useful when your database must be ‘Updated’ with changes, rather than ‘Replaced’ with the cleaned data (as in the Export Raw Data option).

Care should always be taken to ensure such actions are updating and deleting only the data you need updated.  We strongly recommend that you thoroughly test your updating routines against a test copy of your database before committing these updates against your live database.

NEED EXTRA HELP?

To take advantage of the ‘Export Changes’ option you will require either a programmer to write the code needed to execute each step within the XML export, or a database administrator to run the Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts against your data.  This requirement will depend largely on the complexity of your database and your own expertise working with databases.

Precision Data can help you with data cleaning services – with the added bonus of the experience gained from having worked with many other businesses that use the Duplicate Record Merger to clean their data.

Changes Report

There is also the option to produce a report showing all the changes in human-readable format.  This report could be used to manually edit and delete records in a system that, due to security, privacy or company policy reasons are locked down and cannot be updated directly.
